A fast gravel road, a technical mountain trail and a camp site need different light. Beam pattern: the most important choice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The beam pattern determines where the light goes. RIGID lights come with several beam types:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Spot<\/strong> \u2014 a narrow, long-range beam for higher speeds and long straights: it reaches far ahead but lights little to the sides;<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Flood<\/strong> \u2014 a wide beam close to the vehicle: for slow technical trails, work around the vehicle and camp;<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Driving<\/strong> \u2014 a balance between spot and flood: good reach plus some width, a versatile choice for the road and fast tracks;<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Spot\/Flood Combo<\/strong> \u2014 spot optics in the center of the light bar and flood at the edges, so one bar covers both distance and width;<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Diffused<\/strong> \u2014 soft, even light without hot spots, for work, scene and ditch lighting;<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Hyperspot<\/strong> \u2014 the most concentrated beam for maximum reach.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A simple rule: the faster you drive, the more spot you need; the slower and more technical the terrain, the more flood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Form factor: pods, round lights or a light bar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pods<\/strong> \u2014 compact lights such as the 3-inch <a href=\"https:\/\/rigid.am\/en\/product-category\/d-series-pro\/\">D-Series PRO<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/rigid.am\/en\/product-category\/srq-pro-series\/\">SR-Q and SR-M Series PRO<\/a>. White or amber light<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>White light gives maximum visibility. Amber reflects less off dust, rain, fog and snow and is easier on the eyes on long night drives.
